let's have a heart to heart [for Scott]
Melissa knew that it was time to tell Scott the truth about her and the father of his best friend but she couldn't help being a little nervous about it. It wasn't that she really thought Scott would react badly but she figured it was a bigger thing than her just dating someone random. This was someone he knew, someone that he was close to and it would definitely change the dynamics of their whole family in a big way. At least, she thought it would.
Still, she tried to tell herself it wouldn't be so bad as she stood in the kitchen of their apartment, clutching a cup of coffee between her hands as she waited for him to come out of his room. She had thought about making him breakfast, maybe something really big and extravagant, but she was pretty sure that would be coming across as trying too hard.
There was a plate of waffles and a cup of coffee waiting for him though. Which she pointed to as soon as she saw him wandering out. "You." She snapped her fingers to catch his attention first before pointing. "Sit. I need to talk to you before you go out for the day."
That seemed normal, right?

Which was another reason she felt bad for keeping the truth about her and Al from him.

She fell silent then, drawing in a breath as she continued to clutch her coffee cup between her hands. "Do you remember when I told you that I wanted to start dating? I know it must have seemed a little weird for you. Especially when it turned out I was going on a date with a sociopath who turned you into a werewolf."
"Anyways." She brushed that aside too with a frown. "I never really try dating after that and then your Dad showed up. And I know that sometimes kids of divorced parents might get it in their head that their parents might get together..."

And then she mentioned his dad and derailed any other train of thought. "Wait, what? Dad showed up? Why? What did he want?"

Then she lifted her hands as he started to get a little riled up. "Scott, it's okay. He came back because he wanted to make things better with us, that's all. He just wants to try again. With you!" She rushed to add. "He wanted to try again with you."
She hesitated with a little frown. "Though now you know, would you want your dad and I to get back together? Or would you still be okay with me dating someone else?"

Clearing her throat, she straightened with a shake of her head. "But no, it's not him." She frowned briefly. "He's not here, is he?"
She waved it off quickly. "Never mind, we're getting sidetracked." She focused on him again, trying not to let herself get too nervous. "What I really want to know is...would you be okay with me dating...Al?"

"Are you okay?" She asked softly instead, concerned.

"And you're sure that you're okay with this, right?" She moved to rest her hands on his shoulders. "You would tell me if you weren't?"
